Vijnana Bhairava 39 40 Awakening Through 'Om'

Vintage Indian Hindu Sri Rama Chola Bronze Statue-18HAD
Râma with his bow (subtle one !)

The practice of awakening through "om", and introducing the practice of merging in desire, the blissfull source of all movements :

praṇavādisamuccārāt plutānte śūnyabhāvānāt |
śūnyayā parayā śaktyā śūnyatām eti bhairavi || 39 ||
"Ô Goddess ! One shall go to emptyness
throught the empty power, the supreme power.
(How ?) By realizing the empty (awareness)
at the end of the long (sound) when spelling/rising
(a Mantra) like 'Om', etc."

yasya kasyāpi varṇasya pūrvāntāv anubhāvayet |
śūnyayā śūnyabhūto 'sau śūnyākāraḥ pumān bhavet || 40 ||
"One shall become pure awareness, empty of (all content),
having become empty through the empty (power) :
one should experience the (empty) beginning (or) end
of any sound (that one may say)."

Vijnana Bhairava Tantra 33 Rising Awareness Up the Sky, A Tree, A Wall, A Moutain Or Another'Body

In that verse 33, we learn of the same practice as in verse 29, rising Kundalini. But here, instead of Her rising through our "own" body, we rise along with Her in another's body, or up through a wall, or the sky, of a mountain, a tree, etc :

īdṛśena krameṇaiva yatra kutrāpi cintanā |
śūnye kuḍye pare pātre svayaṃ līnā varapradā || 33 ||
"By that very process (of the twelve steps of rising throught the subtle body),
wherever (one projects one's) awareness (cintanā)
- (that is), in empty (sky), in a wall,
in another (body or) in a (worthy) vessel, (like a good disciple),
She Whi Is the Giver of Boons will (go back) hide into Herself."

She will "ascend" and open up, go back to her original state of naked open silence. The fact that individual awareness (cintanā) and universal awareness (varapradā) are in the same case (sāmānādhikaraṇya) suggests that they are, in truth, one and the same awareness. Thus, this "practice" is not a case of going from one place to another, but of recognizing one's original state.

ardhendubindunādāntaḥ śūnyoccārād bhavec chivaḥ || 42 ||

"En s'élevant jusqu'au vide
à la fin de la résonance, du point, de la demi-lune,
en suivant les étapes des syllabes grossières
de n'importe quel mantra agrégé, on deviendra Dieu."
